Frequently as an ag teacher I work Saturdays, and this Saturday was no different. But unlike the typical Saturday of planning lessons, watering greenhouses, and grading papers this Saturday was spent taking students to compete at the FFA District Contest. I had a student participating in the Creed Speaking Contest and our Chapter's Secretary's Book was also being judged. As a "newbie" I didn't go with dreams of winning, but simply not embarrassing ourselves. But, much to my surprise the Creed speaker I was training won!! I was so STOKED!! This means he is moving on to compete at State Conference in April. Our Secretary's book was 3rd and is the alternate for competing at State.
Whoever said, "it's the little things that count" was right. Lately I've been struggling to stay positive about my job and a boost like last weekend has given me the enthusiasm I needed. So for now I say "Bring It On", well at least until the excitement wears off. I'm sure lots of you have bad days, or weeks like I do and I hope that you too will have a surprise that gives you the gas to keep going.

Hey,
Nice job with FFA! That always feels good to see someone you teach succeed. Way to be "stoked" (ha ha). Hope all is well for you guys. We may have a big change coming up. A good friend of ours wants us to go into a candle business with him out in Missouri. The town is called Jamesport. With his degree in Marketing and Steve's in with taxes and business we could take it really far. But we are not sure yet, we are going to fly out sometime this month see the whole set up but it's something we are thinking about. Tell Dave "hi". Take care!
how about an update!
